Reno - Garrett Lee Willison, 78, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, July 19, 2025, in Reno, Nevada.
Garrett was born November 4, 1946, to Gerald and Delores Willison in Libertyville, Illinois. He graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, Illinois, class of 1964. After high school, Garrett earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
After college, Garrett was drafted into the Vietnam war, serving in the United States Army. He completed his service with numerous honors and medals.
After the military, Garrett worked as a Certified Public Accountant, becoming a trusted partner to his clients. After 20 years in the finance field, Garrett, a highly curious and intelligent lifelong learner, embarked on the next chapter of his life. He earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic graduating Cum Laude from Logan University in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Garrett was a passionate sports fan and could always be counted on for a spirited conversation on any number of sports-related topics. He was a beloved friend and family member to all. He will be remembered for his genuine concern for those in his lives and his consistent spirit of generosity. He will be greatly missed.
Garrett is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Carol Deak and Wanda Counsil; and his niece Allison Counsil. He is survived by his sister Kaye Morris of Maryland Heights, Missouri; nephew Leon Mire of Charleston, Illinois, and nephew Christopher Counsil of Reno, Nevada.
A graveside service honoring Garrett will be held Tuesday, October 21st 11 a.m. at Bethsaida Cemetery, across from Bethsaida Church 17020 County Rd. 200 N., Dieterich, Illinois 62424.
