Jeffery Allen Golike, born October 5, 1955 in Alton, Il, passed quietly but unexpectedly at home, July 1, 2025. Son of Donald and Betty (Slager) Golike, Jeff attended Alton High School, graduating in 1973, then attending John Brown University in Arkansas with a B.S. degree in drafting and building construction. He worked several years with MU Witt Construction and later with Wagner and Strohbeck Construction in Brighton.
Preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Bruce David. Jeff is survived by his elder sister, Sue (Roy) Morris of Brighton; younger brother, Jim (Tabitha) Golike; nieces, Jolene (Nathan) Sherman and Caitlin Golike; grandnephews, Hayden and Logan Sherman; step-niece and nephews, Lisa (Brian) Lewis, Chris Morris and Steve (Krys) Morris and Morris; step-grand nieces and nephews; a maternal aunt, Trudy (Chuck) Hays of North Carolina and paternal uncle, Clay Ringhausen of Hardin. Jeff is also survived by Golike and Hays cousins and numerous extended cousins, all whom he loved dearly.
Jeff was an avid fisherman, hunter and in his later years, gardener extraordinaire.
As per his wishes, Jeff will be cremated, and an informal graveside service held on July 15, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Fosterburg Cemetery in Fosterburg, IL. The Rev. Robert Harris will officiate. Elias, Kallal &Schaaf Funeral Home of Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
