JEROME DUPY
MARYVILLE— At approximately 3:40 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018, the heavens received Jerome Martin Dupy. Born July 11, 1936, he died peacefully in his sleep with his family at his bedside. He was a long-time resident of Wood River, Illinois. In recent years, Jerome resided with his wife Marlene in Maryville, Illinois.
Jerome was known as a lover of animals. This led him to find the love of his life when he charmed his high school crush into seeing a litter of puppies at his house. It was not long after that, he and Marlene Carole (Tant) Dupy were married on July 20, 1957. They have been inseparable ever since, recently celebrating 60 years of marriage. Jerome, a 1957 graduate of East Alton Wood River High School, held a 50-year discus record of 162' 5". Jerome worked at Olin Brass in the Fineweld Tube in East Alton, Illinois, eventually moving with Fineweld to Cuba, Missouri, where he happily retired. Upon retirement, Jerome and Marlene enjoyed many years living in Cuba, Missouri, where they spent many days fishing, boating and swimming in the lake and a daily happy hour cocktail. He also enjoyed many hours of creating his puzzle wall-art masterpieces.
Loved ones preceding Jerome in death are a beloved grandson Jordan Dupy, his parents, Otto and Sadie Dupy, his brothers, Len, Marvin, a sister Rita, and many "cat-children." Those surviving are his beloved wife, Marlene Carol Dupy, two sons, Jeff and wife Jill of Wood River, Jay of Maryville, and three grandchildren, Joli, Andrew and Jada.
In accordance to Jerome's wishes, his children will host a celebration of his life at a later date and time. Memorial donations in honor of Jerome Dupy can be sent to American Cancer Society and mailed to #5 Schiber Ct. Maryville, Illinois 62062.
