Laura Lee Gaither
Godfrey - Laura Lee Gaither, 70, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at her home in Godfrey. Born March 9, 1955 in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of Lee E. Bell and Elizabeth R. (Birtley). Mrs. Gaither was a chemical engineer for 20+ years where she worked for Proctor & Gamble as well as Dial where she retired from. She had a dream of owning and piloting a small airplane. She greatly enjoyed flying. On May 13, 1978 she married Donald R. Gaither and he preceded her in death May 13, 2011. Surviving are two Sisters, Julia Hilkemeyer of Godfrey and Ruth Edwards. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Jennifer Zuzenak. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, IL. Father Ramesh Matta will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA. Gent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
