Melvin Spickerman Obituary

Melvin Frank Spickerman
Dow - Melvin Frank Spickerman, 98, died at 4:48 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor. Born August 30, 1926 in Bunker Hill, he was the son of Frank and Florence Spickerman. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired as a foreman for Conagra in 1991 after 24 years of service and was also the owner of Midget Market. On May 2, 1959 he married the former Pauline Ellen Parish in Alton. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1999. Surviving are two sons, Paul Spickerman and his wife Leila of Shipman, and Gary Spickerman of Jerseyville and girlfriend, Linda Campanario of Godfrey; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Nicole and Bryan Spickerman and James McDonald III and his girlfriend, Donna Nolan of Jerseyville. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son, James A. McDonald.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon Friday, January 17, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Jim Johnston will officiate. Burial will be at Ingersoll Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mac-Gomery Christian Service Camp, 6876 Mac-Gomery Church Camp Road, Carlinville, IL 62626. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
