Ricky Smith Obituary

Ricky Lee Smith, Sr.
Hamburg - Ricky Lee Smith, Sr., 73, passed away on August 1, 2025 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Born on July 10, 1952 in Alton, he was the son of Vernon Thomas, Sr. and Delores (Sorgea) Smith.
Ricky had a successful career of 47 years as a union laborer of Local 338 in Wood River.
Surviving are a son, Ricky Lee, Jr. (Tara) Smith of Brussels; daughter, Ginny Lynn Corby of Wood River; six grandchildren, Mercedes Stillwell, Johnathon Smith, Braeden Smith, Hope Smith, Clare Smith, Finn Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Kaden Smith, and Kinslee Stillwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Norman Smith and Vernon Thomas Smith, Jr.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, August 10 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Chris Parham will officiate. A Gathering of Family and Friends will follow the service until 4:30 pm.
Family have requested that any memorials please be made to Midwest Derby Scholarship and Calhoun Ambulance Service.

Rick was a good friend. One who loved the Lord, served God and helped people. His favorite saying was ,"well, Mar, you know it's all good. What ever the good Lord wants. Its all good. If He calls me home tonight, it's all good." I am blessed to have known him. I will see him again in glory.
