Ronald W. Settles
Greenfield - Ronald W. Settles, 87, of rural Greenfield, died Wednesday, October 16, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born March 19, 1937, in White Hall to William E. and Ada (Cox) Settles. He married Shirley Snyder, July 22, 1956, in Carrollton, and she preceded him in death December 25, 1990.
Surviving are his sons, Ronnie (Jane) Settles, Randy (Gina) Settles, and Roger (Mandy) Settles, all of Carrollton, his grandchildren, Elissa (Derek) Graham, Laura (Eric) Boehm, Brendan (Faith) Settles , Garrett Settles, Delaney Settles, Lucas Settles, and Wyatt Settles, his great-grandchildren, Tate, Maely, Grace Lynn, Esther, and Isla, his sisters, Barbara Danyluk, and Sue (Jim) Vinyard, his brother, Billy (Jan) Settles, his sister-in-law, Linda Settles, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Gary and Byron, his sister, Joyce Ann McEvers, and his second wife, Hazel Settles.
Ronald worked as a machinist at Laclede Steel for 41 years and also farmed during those years. He was a member of the Eldred Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Masons.
A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Visitation will start at 9 am, Masonic services will be held at 11:30 just prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at the Carrollton City Cemetery in Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to the Eldred Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Please leave a memory or condolence at shields-bishopfh.com

Ronnie was in my high school class in high school and a really nice guy. I moved away from Illinois, but anytime I was back and we happen to see each other we took the time to "catch up" with what was going on in our lives. He was certainly proud of his family.
