Tom Williams Obituary
TOM WILLIAMS
BETHALTO - Tom Williams, 56, went to be with the Lord at 11:27 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on February 21, 1958 in Wood River, Ill., the son of Bernard and Ruby Opal (Smith) Williams. He married Keri Tutt on January 10, 1998. She survives.
He was owner/operator of Prairie Street Auto. Tom had a big heart and loved to help the Bethalto Community in various ways. He enjoyed drag racing, his dogs and working on cars, but most of all he loved spending time with Keri and watching Justin play basketball.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Justin at home; his siblings and their spouses, Ella Louise (Rob) Balford of Green Castle, Pa., Omer (Carol) Williams of Cottage Hills, Homer (Pamela) Williams of Bethalto, Ann Jones of Hartford, Pam Williams of Hartford, John (Brenda) Williams of Alton, Shirley (John) Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M., Shelia (Waldo) Modlin of Bethalto; several nieces, nephews and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Gary Jones.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Harold Hughes.
Burial will follow at Rose lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to First National Bank for the Justin Williams Fund.

A very sad day for bethalto and the williams family. Tom worked on my vehicles and went out of his way to wave at me when i drove by. Rest in peace Tom. We will miss you. Scott Whitworth.

what a great loss we suffer.... at a time when mechanics cheated me when I first moved to Bethalto, I found Tom through a mutual friend... He was always honest with me, fair and let me pay after if I was short... He had even forgotten about our last transaction until I had brought the money up to him..... So sorry to hear this ....

This saddened my heart, I've known Tom many years and I can say he was a true Friend. He will be missed by all.. Prayers and thoughts go out to the family, his memory will live forever. I don't think we went to a drag race without him. My first Indy Nationals was with him 1983.. I guess God needed a Great mechanic and Drag Racer. RIP my friend:(

To one of my best guy friends he helped me so much with car troubles and even though I haven't seen him in many years I get updates from his family. I am so sad to see his passing. Much love to Keri and Justin.
