Abby Somers Obituary

Abby Somers, 29, of Scranton, died April 5 at home after a chronic illness or as per her assessment - from being "a vision of health."

Daughter of Lisa and Edward Somers, she was a graduate of Scranton High School and attended the Culinary Institute of America. By day, she was owner and chef of BabbyCakes Bakery, a mom to the best and brightest boy, a perfect daughter, "A plus sister," a thoughtful friend and lover of a good hashtag. By night she was a Robin to a Batman, a Buzz to a Woody and an all-around superhero. She lived like a damn champion (much like her Boston Red Sox).

Abby would like to thank her 8,675,309 doctors and medical staff, especially those Somers family nurses who worked 24/7/365.

Surviving are her son, Aiden Holland; her parents, Lisa and Edward Somers, Scranton; her siblings, Krista Somers and Coilin Murray, Scranton; Beth Somers and James Farrell, Boston; and Matthew Somers and Samantha Somers, Jessup; her niece, Parker Murray; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and great-grandmother.

Abby is donating her body for medical research. No services will be held, she hated them and would want everyone to celebrate as they see fit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aiden Michael Holland Fund, c/o Fidelity Bank, 338 N. Washington Ave., Scranton PA 18503, or via Venmo @AMHFund.

I saw the picture and the name and remembered Abby from when we went to middle school together. She was in my class. Even at that young of an age, she made a great impression! One of the best kids there! Condolences to friends and family! I'm so sorry for your loss!

We will always miss her visits and baking talents but most of all the infectious smile and humor that we came to hold so dear. Her friendship will always be precious to Nolee and to us. Love always.

Eddie and Lisa, I am so sorry to read of the passing of your daughter Abby. I'm looking at her picture and can easily say that she is a beautiful young lady. Her donation to medical research is testimony to her and your family's strength. Hopefully you will find comfort knowing she is at peace but still making medical history. Karen Coleman
