Albert Catracchia Obituary

Former Scranton resident Albert M. Catracchia, 86, died Jan. 9, 2018, at home in Oviedo, Fla.

Albert was born April 9, 1931, in Ferentino, Italy, to Allessandro Catracchia and Elena Coppotelli. Emigrating to the U.S. as an infant, he grew up on Academy Street, was a parishioner of St. Lucy's Church and graduated from West Scranton High School. "Al" was husband to Dorothy M. Ware, of Scranton, for 63 years. The two cherished family times most.

An Army veteran, Al served abroad during the Korean War. Afterward, the couple lived and worked in New Jersey for 50 years, retiring to Florida in 2006.

Remembered as a kind, caring person, Al gifted broad charities and volunteered locally. He was a N.Y. Giants fan, landscaping enthusiast and enjoyed card playing.

Predeceased by his beloved wife, parents, a brother and sister, Al is survived by a daughter, Diane Fay, her husband, Richard; a grandson, Brian Fay; great-grandchildren, Andrew, 6, and Reagan, 4, and Sarah Fay, all of Oviedo. Also surviving are siblings, Anna Orr (Bill), Clare Roverts (Paul), Joseph Catracchia (Marie); several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Inurnment of Albert and Dorothy will take place this summer at Fairview Memorial Park, in Elmhurst.
