Alexander R. Auricchio, The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died at home after being stricken ill at home. His wife of 45 years and the absolute love of his life is the former Jane Quattrochi.
Born 1944 in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Ralph and Susie Auricchio. Al was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, New York.
Prior to his retirement in 2001 he worked for 35 years for the Journal News/Gannett Newspaper. Al served honorably in the United States Army from 1965-1967 as a specialist E4 with intelligence.
Al was a diehard New York Yankees and Jets fan. He loved being with his family and friends. In the Hideout he enjoyed his time with WoodWorkers and the bowling and golf leagues. Al will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; countless friends.
Family and friends may call Monday, Jan. 2 in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. when a blessing service will be held, and military honors will be rendered.
Cremation will follow in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Al's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (an organization dedicated to helping America's heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families and by building custom-designed smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders), 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
