Alice S. Owens, 89, Lenoxville, died Tuesday. Her husband was the late Thomas J. Owens Sr.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Ida Purper Morris, she was an extremely devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed attending all their events, especially sporting events for the last 50 years. Her devotion to following God's divine purpose was shared through continuously serving others. Alice enjoyed traveling with the love of her life, Tom. She shared her love of baking with everyone. Bird watching was one of her daily activities that brought her joy, especially cardinals and hummingbirds.
Surviving are five daughters, Catherine M. Gliniecki and husband, Edward, Dickson City; Dorothy A. Wallace and husband, David, Lenoxville; Diane M. Speed and husband, Louis, Va.; Janice M. Bevacqua and husband, Mark, Lenoxville; Dawn M. Steele and husband, William, Lenoxville; four sons, Thomas J. Owens Jr. and wife, Tammy, N.C.; Jeffrey J. Owens and wife, Lori, Whites Crossing; William E. Owens and wife, Machelle, Clifford; James M. Owens and wife, Deanna, South Canaan; grandchildren, Edward Gliniecki; Lawrence Gliniecki; Samantha Bilyo; Danielle Weida; Thomas Owens III; Ashley Snyder; Andrea Sanders; Melinda Bennett; Louis Speed; Nicole Speed; Stephen Speed; Mark Bevacqua; Jeffrey Bevacqua; William Owens; Bradley Owens; Bryan Owens; Grace Owens; Christopher Owens; Karis Owens; Mackenzie Steele; William Steele; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, William, Fred and Lawrence Morris; sisters, Dorothy Lewis and Elizabeth Jones.
Friends may call Friday 4 until 7 p.m. in Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. A blessing service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Cremation will follow. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, Pa. 18510 or St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, Pa. 18509.

Dear Owens Family, I Am So Very Sorry To Hear This Sad News. Your Mom And Dad Were The Nicest People in the world. Always A Pleasure to talk with both of them at regional hospital. Im Sure They Are Together Again in Heaven . Smiling down on all of there family. I will keep you all in my prayers
