Andrew Barycki, 78, of Old Forge, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at his home. He was born and raised in Old Forge, on July 8, 1944, and was the son of the late John and Ada Barycki.
Andrew was a graduate of Old Forge High School. He worked for Sinawa Construction and retired from T.P. Corp, Duryea, after many years of employment. Andrew was also well known as the caretaker of Macs Café, Old Forge.
He had a love for Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, and enjoyed traveling to California to visit the Roy Rogers museum with his family. He also enjoyed traveling to Nashville and many other areas in the USA. Andrew also enjoyed watching sports, especially his Old Forge Blue Devils. He loved animals, including his cats, Goldie, Snowball and Buddy, and enjoyed watching the raccoons in which he had a favorite that he called "Ricky the Raccoon." Andrew will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Irene Murphy Barycki, who died May 19, 2011, and his sister, Antonina.
He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Melissa Barycki, also known as "his Christmas Baby," and his many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating. Friends may call Monday evening, Oct. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.
