Anne Guzauski Zuby

Anne Guzauski Zuby, R.N., of South Scranton, died Thursday. She was the widow of Frank J. Zuby, who died Dec. 14, 1991.

Born in Scranton on Oct. 12, 1916, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Stasiak Guzauski. A member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church (now St. Paul of the Cross), she was a member of its choir and of the choir of St. John's Church and societies.

Anne attended Scranton schools and graduated from Central High School. She received her R.N. from St. Mary's Hospital, and associate degree in obstetrics from Women's Hospital in New York City. She worked for several years at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, N.Y., where she was night supervisor. She also was a Red Cross nurse. When she returned to Scranton, she worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement.

A member of Friendly Seniors at St. John's Church, she was secretary for several years and also a member of "Golden Age and After 50" club. She was an accomplished swimmer, a great polka and waltz dancer and played a mean harmonica. She loved to wear beautiful clothing and was well-known for her sharp appearance.

She is survived by her son, Gary and wife, Ellen, of Coopersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton. Interment will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Davis Street, Scranton.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday at the church from 9 until the time of Mass. Arrangements by the Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, 1132 Prospect Ave., South Scranton.
