Aracely Ruggiero Obituary

Aracely Ruggiero of Waverly died Tuesday, Dec. 21, in CMC hospital after a long and challenging 16-month fight against pancreatic cancer. She has been an inspiration and a teacher to all who knew her.

Born in Havana, Cuba, on Jan. 12, 1956, to Francisco and Maria Victoria Suarez, Aracely received her nursing degree from St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, N.J., in 1977 and married Dr. Dominic Ruggiero, her childhood sweetheart, that same year. They raised three beautiful children together: Michelle, Dominic and James. She kept a welcoming, loving home that was always overflowing with friends and family.

Aracely was completely devoted to her family and was the epitome of love in its purist form. She was an avid traveler, speaking Spanish, English, French and Italian. She enjoyed skiing, the outdoors and entertaining her family and friends. She had a particular love of psychology, sociology and although she was a Roman Catholic, she embraced all religions and was very spiritual. Aracely was also a great tennis player. She chose to live out her days enjoying the simple pleasures that life has to offer. She was a strong supporter of seizing the day and enjoying the moment. She had a special gift for making everyone around her feel like they were the most important person. Children would say she sings when she speaks. Her smile would brighten up the entire room, her laughter was contagious and you could see her caring soul by just a glance in her direction.

Aracely is survived by her husband, Dominic; her daughter, Michelle, and her sons, Dominic and James; her mother, Maria Victoria; her sisters, Maria and Zoila; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family expresses their immense appreciation and gratitude to all of her friends and family who have loved her and who have been there for us to lean on throughout this very difficult time. We are so fortunate to have you in our lives.

The funeral will be conducted Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green. The family will receive friends from 10 until Mass time. Interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266; or to St. Jude's Children Cancer Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. God bless you, Ara. You will live in our hearts forever.
