Arlene Tully Obituary

Arlene Mary Tully, 65, of Dickson City, died peacefully Saturday night. She is survived by her husband, Martin Tully. They had recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Born in Scranton on Dec. 20, 1951, she was the daughter of Leon Slesinski and the late Stella Pahoski Slesinski. She attended St. Mary's Parochial School, Dickson City, and was a graduate of Dickson City High School and the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by Delta Medix as a registered nurse before her illness. Arlene was an active member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City.

Arlene's greatest joys were her family and friends. She spent every day talking with them about everything under the sun. She loved cooking, and was constantly trying new recipes, having enough food to feed dozens. Arlene was also an avid baker and baked hundreds of cookies for every occasion. She lived for her two granddaughters, Abigail and Grace, and loved every moment of watching them grow up. She loved having her family around and enjoyed her time with friends.

Arlene was loved by many and will be truly missed. She fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer for six years. She never let her illness slow her down or stop her from smiling. Her spirit and positivity is what she will be remembered for, among many things.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Martin Hyzinski and the staff of Scranton Hematology Oncology for the excellent care they provided to Arlene.

Also surviving are two sons, Shawn Tully and wife, Krista; and Ryan Tully and wife, Kaitlin; a brother, Richard Slesinski and wife, Jill; grandchildren, Abigail and Grace; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary's Visitation Church.

Friends may call Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. To leave online condolences, visit the funeral home website.

To Arlene's family. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Arlene at Moses Taylor Hospital in the 1980's. She has cared for my family members in the doctors office. She was a great nurse. What a loss. My sympathies.
