Barbara Jaffe Obituary

Barbara Jaffe, 77, who resided at the Jewish Home, Scranton, since 2001, died Saturday at Community Medical Center.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Hyman and Rose Klavonski Jaffe.

Barbara was happiest caring for so many children in the community. This was so apparent later in her life, as these children would come to visit her at the Jewish Home. Her second greatest joy was the time she spent at the Jewish Home and the many friends who crossed her path daily.

Her family extends its sincere gratitude to Barbara's doctors and nurses and for the dedication and commitment the staff of the Jewish Home showed her through the years.

Surviving are a nephew, Arthur Mayer and wife, Cindy, and their children, Chris, Jennifer and Jessica; a niece, Ruth Graci, and her children, Tara and Jeffrey and wife, Mona; and several cousins.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Addie Mayer and her husband, Manny Mayer.

A graveside funeral service will be today at 11 a.m. in Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Joseph Mendelsohn. There is no shiva.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Home, 1101 Vine St., Scranton, PA 18510. Arrangements by the Ziman Funeral Home Inc., Scranton.

Thank you, Barb, for always making our days a little brighter with a smile and contagious laugh. We thought of Barb often after Lottie passed away, and were so shocked and sad to hear the news of her passing. Everyone here lost a friend, but Heaven is a probably little more fun these days...

Hugs, Jerry, Theresa, Tracy and Matthew Ritter (and of course Dayna
too!)

Barb was a sweet, quiet girl in Tech High School. While I did not know her very well I did see her around the halls and her photo is in our year book. Our thoughts go out to her family at this time. Marge Campbell Gray and the Class of 54.

I was saddened to read that Barbara had died. When I was a youngster, my mother would send me on errands to the Jaffe's store where I would see and talk to Barbara. I recall that she always seemed a happy and friendly as were her entire family. I wish to extend my sympathy to Barbara's family.
