Bernard Edward Naniewicz, lovingly known as Bernie, of Scott Twp., died March 5 at home with his family after an illness. He was 79 years old. He was the husband of 52 years to the late Judy Pickard Naniewicz, who died in 2017.
Bernie was born Oct. 6, 1941, in Peckville, son of the late Edward and Catherine Poppic Naniewicz. He was a graduate of Blakely High School, class of 1959. After high school, he attended the Wolverine School of Trades in Detroit, Mich., for mechanics. He then received his accounting degree from Lackawanna College. Bernie also served in the United States Army Reserve. Bernie was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor. He took great pride in his farming and working with his equipment. He took enjoyment in teaching everything he knew to his sons and extended family. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events. He was committed to his Catholic faith.
The family would like to thank the nurses from Hospice of the Sacred Heart who came to the house to help with his care.
Surviving are five children, JoAnn Carlin, Philadelphia; Bernard Jr. and his wife, Alice, Dalton; Julie Dippre and husband, Chris, Scott Twp.; Edward and wife, Autumn, Scott Twp.; and Marijo Naniewicz and her significant other, Donald Depew; 10 beloved grandchildren, Liam, Kayla, Cheyenne, C.J., Mason, Josh, Lacota, Jonah, Peyton and Parker; a brother, Richard Naniewicz, Scott Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Davis.
Friends may call Saturday, March 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11, to be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Kirwin, pastor. Interment will be private in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required.

So very very sorry for the loss of your Dad. He would sit either behind me or along side of me at mass and he was always very friendly . Your dad was always a gentleman . He will be missed xox
