Bert Morgan, 65, of Archbald, passed away at Regional Hospital of Scranton on Monday, Oct. 24, surrounded by family.
Born in Peckville, the son Bert and Constance (Coleman) Morgan. He was raised in Archbald and attended grade school at St. Thomas, graduated from Valley View, class of 1975, and he later attended Penn State. Bert started his career at Lockheed Martin in 1978, where he remained faithfully for 44 years. He was the supervisor for material shipping and receiving and planned to retire next year to live out his dream of moving to Virginia Beach to be with his grandchildren and lay out and relax on the beach.
His high school sweetheart, Carmen was the love of his life for more than 42 years. They shared a wonderful marriage and special bond that will never be broken. Bert enjoyed time with Carmen going to the casino and hitting all the local bakeries in town for cinnamon rolls.
Bert was an avid sports fan. He loved the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Los Angeles Rams. He was also a die-hard Valley View Cougars fan. His greatest joy was to watch his son Jason play for the Cougars. He loved golfing with friends, adored the Beatles and just recently attended a Paul McCartney concert, which checked one off his bucket list.
Bert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who deeply and unconditionally loved his family. He looked forward to watching his grandchildren grow and be a part of their lives. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his family. He was so proud of his son Jason's accomplishments and the man he has become. His daughter Kayla was daddy's girl. Bert became heavily involved as an advocate for people with disabilities.
He was an active member of the community serving as past president of the PODS group (Parents of Down Syndrome). He was previously a manager for Area P Special Olympics and most recently serving on the board of the ARC of Northeastern Pennsylvania, where he was an advocate, friend and coach. He was devoted and loved by all his athletes, he was always there when needed.
Bert was a kind, loving man that would do anything for anyone at anytime. He became friends with anyone who would listen, whether it was at the convenient store or the beach. His two beloved dogs, Stitch and Odie (deceased), brought so much joy to his life.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen (Neri) Morgan; his son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Stacie; his daughter, Kayla; and grandchildren, Luke, Jack and Jude; his aunt, Alice Colemen, of Archbald; his uncle, Tom and wife, Joan Morgan; cousins, Tom Jr. and Mary Ellen, of Scranton; his beloved nieces, Amanda and Chelsea; his nephew, Ian. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Doris Rinker and husband, Ben; nephews, Aaron and Adrian; brother-in-law, Roland Neri, wife, Christine, nieces, Emma and Kate, and nephew, Ryan; brother-in-law, Roger Neri and wife, Stephanie, nephews, Sal and Justin, and nieces, Julie and Meghan.
The family would like to thank the Regional Hospital of Scranton for the excellent care and compassion shown to Bert. The family would also like to thank Nathan Poindexter (friend/second son) for being present through this difficult time. The family also thanks all co-workers, friends and neighbors that have provided comfort, food and hugs. The family is forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ARC of NEPA, which was Bert's wish.
Although Bert's life was cut short, his influence, love and dedication will always inspire, sustain and comfort all who knew him.

Bert was a gentleman. As a teammate on the basketball court or seeing him occasionally over the years. He was a giver and always had a kind word. Steve Esgro '75
