Carl J. Bonafede

Carl J. Bonafede of Scranton died Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family. His wife is the former Sue Ellen Stelevich. They were married on Aug. 17, 1999.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Letitia Pisa Bonafede. A graduate of West Scranton High School, before his retirement he served the city of Scranton as a firefighter with the Scranton Fire Department for over 32 years.

Carl was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish, and was an avid New York Yankees Fan. He liked to have coffee with his friends. He enjoyed traveling and going on vacation with his family and also enjoyed traditional family dinners with them. But, above all, he loved hanging out and being with his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are children, Mark Bonafede and wife, Judy, Scranton; Carla Farrell and husband, John, Fort Mills, S.C.; David Bonafede, Olyphant; and Jill Natale and husband, Tony, Scranton; stepdaughter, Marissa Stelevich, Florida; brother, Anthony Bonafede and wife, Cindy, Leesburg, Va.; sisters, Ann Marie Bonafede, Scranton, and Karen McPhillips, Scranton; grandchildren, Tyler Bonafede, Ema Bonafede, Caitlin Farrell, Finnegan Farrell, Gabriel Bonafede, Adriana Bonafede, Avianna Natale, Nico Natale and Salvatore Natale; and great-grandchildren, Declan and Kellan Tuttle.

He was also preceded in death by brother, Joseph Bonafede; and grandchildren, Jack Farrell and Juliana Natale.

A private blessing service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

Friends and family may pay their respects Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
