Caroline Mazzoni Obituary

Caroline Mazzoni, 100, of Archbald, died Friday morning at Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of Angelo Mazzoni, who died June 8, 1990.

Caroline was born on April 26, 1915, in Lucca (Tuscany) Italy, daughter of the late Paul Martinucci and Elisa Pucci Martinucci. She came to America on Dec. 19, 1929, with her parents and younger sister, Josephine, with their first residence being in Carbondale.

She was employed at Weston, predecessor to Lockheed Martin, for 27 years, with her position at retirement being that of a supervisor. She was a member of the Elkview Ladies Bowling Team and a member of the Archbald Activity Club. She was a devout member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Archbald.

She lived for her family and took great pride in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a great cook and baker who welcomed a lot of family members and friends to her house for lunch and dinner. To all who knew her, she was "Sweet Caroline."

Surviving are sons, former District Attorney of Lackawanna County Paul R. Mazzonni and wife, Elaine; and Judge Robert A. Mazzoni and wife, Trisha; grandchildren, Robert Mazzoni and wife, Kim, Archbald; Ronald Mazzoni and wife, Desiree, Mountaintop; Paul Mazzoni and wife, Ann, Florida; and Carla Hayes and husband, James, Greenfield Twp.,; along with numerous great-grandchildren and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Josephine, and great-grandson, Robert David Mazzoni.

The family would like to thank Allied Assisted Living, the staff at Mountain View Care Center and Dr. Michael Kondash for their exceptional care and compassion during Caroline's stay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Church Street, Archbald. Interment at St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon.

Paul and Bob: You were so very lucky to have two wonderful parents. You can also know that you fulfilled their lives by becoming two very successful lawyers, DA and a Judge. Children cannot do more for their parents than making them feel like they were completely successful parents, and you guys completed their lives. Congrats to you and we are very sorry for your loss. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Paul and Bobby, I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Caroline's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. Take comfort in that she loved you very much and was always so proud of what you both accomplished with your lives. She will truly be missed as she was the last of a great era of people..I still remember my mother and I raiding your parent's garden when we visited from NJ. She always had a kitchen full of sweet cookies and pies. Her canned foods were divine. My love to everyone. Cousin Jeanie,
