David Brojack Obituary

David James Brojack, 66, of Scott Twp., died Friday morning, Nov. 15, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Peckville on Jan. 14, 1953, he was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Helen Guidos Brojack; and he is survived by his brother, William M. Brojack and wife, Evelyn, Scott Twp.

David had many accomplishments during his life, but his greatest one was Brojack Lumber Co. As a young man, Dave worked at his father's mill. After high school, he attended Lycoming College and was a 1974 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, he then came back and started the wholesale part of the business at Brojack Lumber Co. He went on to open a reload in Gananoque, Ontario, Canada, trading lumber until 1993 when he closed that business. Since then, he has serviced lumberyards all over Eastern Pa., New York and New Jersey.

Dave attained a fifth degree Black Belt Master Rank in the art of Chinese Kempo-Goju when he was at college and he proceeded to open a martial arts school from 1972 through 2005. Dave also passed all FAA requirements to become a private pilot with an instrument rating. He owned and flew a Cherokee 160 and a Cherokee 6.

Dave served on the board of directors at Fidelity Bank. He was certified as a lumber inspector and grader from Penn State University.

Dave was also a dedicated member of the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority since May 2008.

Dave was an avid fisherman and he took many trips to Canada where he enjoyed fishing for large native fish. He loved to travel and had a love for animals, especially his dog, Mr. Amos. Dave always was a kind and considerate person. He had many acquaintances, but only a few close friends, who he cherished. He was a wonderful boss, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

There will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 25 Church Hill, Dalton, Pa. As per his family's request, please no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the following charities in Dave's name, St. Ann's Basilica, 1250 St. Ann's St., Scranton, PA 18504; the Salvation Army, 500 S. Washington Ave., Scranton, PA 18505; or the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 25 Church Hill, Dalton, PA 18414.

Life is quite a journey, albeit short, however, David enjoyed his passions and relationships in a way that provided him great comfort and peace during his life. My heart is saddened for the brevity of his life, having known him since we were 18 years of age and shared life together. Rest peacefully, David. To Bill and Evelyn and the extended Brojack family, celebrate your brother's life in the memories you have with him.

My deepest condolences to the Brojack family.

What a great guy, I have always looked forward to seeing Dave every summer on his fishing expeditions to Canada. We always sat and chit-chatted about the good old times he spent at Victoria Lodge and the different lakes he visited with his buddy Jacques (reunited and planning the next fishing spot).

I am so fortunate to have known his father, mother and then Dave, the great and gentle man. I will miss him deeply.
