David Gleason, 63, of North Abington Twp. and formerly of Moosic, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at Geisinger CMC.
Born in Scranton on Sept. 8, 1958, Dave was the son of Aileen Gleason of Moosic and the late Rev. Stanley "Pop Pop" Gleason. A 1976 graduate of Riverside High School, he remained involved with his fellow classmates. Upon graduation, he immediately began working in his family's business, Gleason Kitchens Inc., and he would remain involved in the cabinetry business that he loved his entire life.
Dave loved sports, animals (his cat Odie), and loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. In his youth, he loved playing basketball, having also served as a youth basketball coach for the Moosic Youth Center. He also possessed a passion for travel, always speaking very fondly of his time spent in the British Isles.
If one word defined Dave, it was resilient. His strong will and determination led him to hurdle whatever he faced and defined his character. Certainly taken too soon, he will never be forgotten.
Dave was kind, caring and empathetic to everyone. Above all else, he adored his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is also survived by his wife, who he married in 1978, Leslie Gleason; his children, Derek Gleason and wife, Sarah of Clarks Summit, Laura Kurilla and husband, Steve of Peckville and Lacie Walker and husband, Jim of Clarks Summit; his three grandchildren, LoreLei, Clementine and Willow; his brother, John Gleason and wife, Nancy of Moosic; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dave's life is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 23, at Moosic Alliance Community Church, Rocky Glen Road in Avoca, to be conducted by the Rev. Erik Ferguson, pastor. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

David was one of the first craftsmen I met when we moved into our house in Clarks Summit 10 years ago. We were new to the area. His skill, attention to detail, professionalism & kindness were remarkable. He both helped us remodel a very outdated kitchen (on budget!) and feel welcomed into a new community. I was startled to learn of his death. Please accept our sympathy at his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.
