Delores Revello Obituary

Delores Revello, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, died peacefully at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, on Feb. 8, 2023 while holding her son Pat's hand as she made her journey to Heaven. During her lengthy stay at hospice, she was always surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death in 1977 by her husband, Joseph P. Revello.

Born on Christmas Day, Delores was the daughter of the late John and Mary Sopp. She was educated in the Old Forge School District. In her earlier years, she was employed in the area garment industry, specifically at Duchess Manufacturing. In 1967, Delores and her husband Joe opened Revello's Cafe. The establishment quickly became a landmark and community gathering place. After her husband's passing, Delores continued to work tirelessly to build the business while she was raising her family.

Family meant everything to Delores. She was a wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren. Delores was an incredibly strong woman in every way. She lived her life showing love, kindness, and generosity to all. She cherished the joy of working along her brother and sisters at the restaurant for many years. She also had an extended family. It was important to her that every employee at the Revello's was treated as a member of her family. Delores took joy in hosting the annual Revello's Christmas party that was always memorable for all.

Delores loved the Old Forge community. She took great pride in hosting the end of season "pizza parties" for all levels of high school sports teams and other community events. Delores had many aspects of enjoyment in her life. She cherished her trips to New York City with her children and grandchildren. She loved her bus trips to Atlantic City casinos with her brothers, sisters, and friends. Advanced age was irrelevant to Delores. She never missed a hair appointment with Erin Sullenberger at Panache, as well as her weekly manicure appointments.

Delores had a sharp wit and boundless sense of humor that will be deeply missed. She lived a full and exemplary life.

The family wishes to acknowledge her caregivers, Kate Merenich, Theresa Venture, Pachulia Ekaterina, and her granddaughter Lauren Ferrett who assisted the family in caring for Delores at home, as well as the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart during her final days. The family is also grateful for the care and guidance of Dr. John Diakiw. His visits to her home brought her joy.

Delores is survived by her three children, Marilyn Ferrett, Old Forge, Kathleen Povanda, and husband Bernard, Moosic, and Patrick Revello, and wife Heather, Old Forge; nine grandchildren, Dustin, Lauren, and Ashley Ferrett, Kellen Povanda, Natalie Povanda Carlucci, Blaine Povanda, Caroline, Joey, and Rocco Revello. She is also survived by her brothers, Andy Sopp, and wife Janice, Taylor, and Ronald Sopp, Old Forge; her sisters, Dorothy Kaetzel, Taylor and Diane Klink, and husband Bernard, Duryea; brothers-in-law, James Revello, of Doylestown and Thomas Revello, Old Forge; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In addition to her husband Joseph, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Revello; a son-in-law, Laurence Ferrett; a brother, John Sopp; and sisters, Irene Oliveri and Mary Ann Czerkas.

The funeral will be Tuesday, Feb. 14, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor and concelebrated by Rev. Eduard Shestak. Those planning to attend the Mass are asked to proceed directly to the church. Graveside committal rites and interment will follow in Old Forge Cemetery.
