Don Gallucci, 67, of Marlton, N.J., formerly of Scranton, died Monday morning at his home. He is the love of Hannia's life, his surviving wife.
Born in Scranton, son of Angelo Frank Gallucci and Margaret "Peggy" Stanley Gallucci, Don was a brilliant mathematician, a fantastic musician and songwriter, and a skilled designer and optician. His big heart and kindness extended beyond his friends and family and into his work as an optician. While practicing, Don was a top performer at Harvard Vanguard Health Services and Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary, both organizations driven by a mission to find cures for blindness, deafness and diseases of the head and neck. His work in the optical world also included an incredible eye for design and impressive sales results at both Luxottica/Versace Division and Marcolin and Marchon Eyewear. Don attended Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts prior to his work in optical.
Don was a friend to many and a listening ear to all. His passion could be felt by all that knew him, through his love for understanding life's most complicated studies and sharing that knowledge with those around him through tutoring and mentorship, and through his seemingly effortless talent on the guitar. He was also a faithful man. Don studied the bible, took time for his prayers and had a close relationship with God. He was very sentimental about the people close to him. Don will be remembered for his loyalty to his friends and family and for his contagious laughter that will be so sadly missed by all those lucky enough to experience it.
Surviving are wife, Hannia and her children, including stepson, Francisco whom Don shared a special bond with, all of Boston; two sisters, Sheila Galluci-Davis and husband Rob Davis, and Lisa Gallucci, all of Medford, N.J.; brother, Mark of Boston; and four nieces and nephews, Pierson and Brianna Davis, Medford; and Gabriella and Mark Angelo, Boston.
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton. Inurnment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum. All attending the Mass are kindly asked to proceed directly to church. Friends and family may pay their respects Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lhasa Happy Homes Inc. https://lhasahappyhomes.org/ or your local animal shelter to honor Don's beloved Lhasa Apso "Max." Please visit the funeral home website to leave an online condolence.
