Doreen Ann McCabe, 87, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully May 7, 2022, at her home with her loved ones around her after a brief illness.
Doreen was born in Littlehampton, West Sussex, England, on July 7, 1934. She was educated in the British school system. She immigrated to the United States in 1960, to New York City, where she met her future husband, John McCabe. After getting married to John in August of 1968, they moved to Scranton, where their sons, Brian and Tim, were born and raised.
While in Scranton, she was a homemaker. She also volunteered at the Scranton Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and served as president for a number of years. After John's retirement, they moved to the San Diego, Calif. area. While there, she was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire.
Doreen is survived by her husband, John; sons, Brian (San Diego) and Tim (Santee, Calif.); sister, Pam (Israel); and grandchildren, Megan and Spencer.
A celebration of life is planned May 22 in San Marcos, Calif.
