Dorothy Lombardi (née Hollis), 86, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a longtime resident of South Philadelphia, passed away on Oct. 13, 2023 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Dorothy is survived by daughter, Lynne Argabright; son, Steven (Janice); daughter, Susan Granville (Joseph); son, Gregg (Barbara); and her daughter-in-law, Donna Gourley. Dorothy is preceded in death by son, Robert Lombardi; longtime partner, Harold Manahan; sisters, Anna Ashcroft, Catherine Deiss and Helen Gambale; and brother, William Hollis Jr.
Dorothy's love and warmth extended to her grandchildren, including her granddaughter, Ashley Gliddon (Michael); and her grandsons, Robert, Jason (Michelle), Kevin, Matthew and Aidan; as well as nieces, Barbara Geverd (Ed), Lynn Armbruster (Tom), Karen Gambale Adezio (James), Susan Helfrich (Mike) and Anne Marie Pirillo (Leon).
Dorothy's passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, cheering on her team with unwavering loyalty. Dorothy had a unique gift for remembering everyone's birthday and their corresponding zodiac signs, creating a special connection with her loved ones. She had the simplest of pleasures in life, often found with a cup of strong, black coffee in hand, and engrossed in a good book or doing crossword puzzles.
Dorothy's love for casino visits, particularly the penny machines, added a thrilling dimension to her life. Her love for cookies was a charming quirk that endeared her to all who knew her, as she would often prefer them over traditional meals. Her exceptional penmanship was a reflection of her attention to detail and her ability to make every written word a work of art.
Dorothy touched the hearts of many with her kindness, witty humor and love. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly in their hearts. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love and spirit will endure in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
