Edward Robson Obituary

Edward J. (Ted) Robson, 80 years, of Clarks Summit and formerly of Scranton, died Nov. 11, 2023, at Allied Services Hospice Center. His wife of 56 years is the former Marie Carrocci.

Born on Sept. 22, 1943, Ted was the son of the late Clarence (C.J.) and Mary Forkin Robson. He was a 1961 graduate of Central High School. He received a bachelor's degree in 1965, a master's degree in 1968 and an administrator's certification from the University of Scranton. He studied at the University of Dayton, Ohio (Institute for Advanced Studies in Spanish), at the University of Guatemala and at the University of Pittsburgh.

Ted dedicated his career to teaching, mentoring and coaching. He taught Spanish and social studies at Central High School where he served as vice principal. Subsequent administrative roles included assistant principal at West Scranton Intermediate School and principal at Adams and Bancroft schools. In addition, he coached eighth grade boys' basketball at East Scranton Intermediate School, was golf coach at Central High School and served as a PIAA track official.

He valued education and was very proud of the careers chosen by his children. He respected and admired teachers, coaches and the entire support staff who helped foster lifelong learning for their students.

Following his parents' example and influenced by his Chapel School education, Ted was an altar server at the Cathedral of Saint Peter and the Immaculate Conception Chapel. He was a lector and served on the Parish Council of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a member of the Church of Saint Gregory, Clarks Green.

Ted loved playing golf. His father introduced him to the sport. He played at many golf courses, participated in the Industrial League at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course, and was a 20-year member at Emanon Country Club where he scored a hole-in-one in the year 2000 and again in 2006. He enjoyed playing golf with his father, C.J., his son, Phil, and his brother-in-law, John Ryan, and his many dear friends.

Ted was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He dearly loved his three granddaughters, Maya, Eva and Sadie, and he cherished the time he spent with them. His love for Marie was profound.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kristen Robson, MD and her husband, Louis Benet, and their daughters, Maya and Eva, Lexington, Massachusetts; Philip Robson and his daughter, Sadie; and Karen Robson Ph.D., South Abington Twp. Survivors also include sisters, Marilou Ryan and husband, John; and Terri Robson and dear friend, Cheryl Lewis; Marie's brother, Vincent Carocci and his wife, Toni; and nieces and nephews, Colleen and Jeff Ryan, Judi and Terry Phillips, Lynn and Jay Ryan, Patty Carocci, Alison and Atty. Tom Carocci, Courtney and David Carocci, and Missy and godson, Steve Carocci, Col. USAF Ret., and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John; and Marie's parents, Sophie and Roy Carocci. Marie wishes to thank the healthcare teams who compassionately cared for TR including Anthony, Katie and Natalie (Traditional Home Health), and Matt and Maureen (Northeast Rehab).

Special thanks to Father Michael Boris for spiritual guidance.

Always a gentleman and a sportsman, Ted was a friend and a neighborhood fixture in the Hill Section. May he rest in the hands of the Lord.
