Eileen Catherine Pugh Howard died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease at 82 years young in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Eileen was born in Scranton, Pa. on Dec. 1, 1938, and was a caregiver from the very start, helping to raise her siblings after her father passed. Eileen went on to receive her nursing degree in 1956 in Scranton and lived and worked there till she moved to Long Island, New York with her husband, Thomas Charles, and son, Thomas John. After the death of her husband in 1987, Eileen moved to Seminole, Oklahoma, where she ran a radio station and continued her work as a registered nurse. From Oklahoma Eileen moved to Stuart, Florida, where she retired from nursing after a 40+ year career. During her retirement, Eileen volunteered in many charitable endeavors and worked impressively on her golf game. Eileen eventually moved back to Oklahoma to be near her son Tom, wife Michelle and grandson Thomas Christopher, where she lived until her death.
Eileen was preceded in death by parents, Mary and Evan; brother, Jack; brother-in-law, William; daughter, Kathleen; and her husband, Tom.
She is survived by her son, Thomas John; daughter-in-law, Michelle; grandson, Thomas Christopher; sister, Peggy Lettieri; brother, Edward Pugh; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Pugh and Donna Howard; nephew, Ed Pugh; and nieces, Jennifer Solomon, Tina Savio, Kelly Byron and Karen McHale.
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1101 Willow St., Peckville, Pa., on Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
