George J. Sink

George J. Sink, 74, of Jefferson Twp., died Tuesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart. He is survived by his wife, Bernice M. Hinkley Griffiths Sink. They celebrated their 20th anniversary in February.

Born in Scranton, son of the late George E. and Anna Hagen Sink, he was raised in South Side, was a 1962 graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and was employed for 37 years up until his retirement at the Scranton Sewer Authority.

He served his country as a medic in the National Guard.

Anyone who ever met George knew he was a good, good man. He always thought of Bernice's family as his own. He loved to sing and whistle his favorite tunes.

Also surviving are a daughter, Roseann Richard, of Union Dale; and her significant other, Harold Holbert; grandchild, Deanna Holbert, was the apple of his eye; and sister, Mary Ann Kalinich, of Scranton. George leaves behind his extended family, Larry Griffiths, of Mountain Top; Billy Griffiths, of Dunmore; Brian Griffiths, of Scranton; and Luther Griffiths, of Scranton.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Marie Winn; and five brothers-in-law, Bill Kalinich, Larry Winn, Raymond Hinkley, Francis "Butch" Hinkley and Jesse Hinkley.

George's life will be celebrated Sunday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church in Hamlin.
