Helen Wirhanowsky Obituary

Helen Wirhanowsky, 82, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, died Wednesday morning at the Meadows of Scranton after an illness.

Born on Feb. 7, 1935, daughter of the late Paul and Jennie Kopistansky Wirhanowsky, Helen was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Before her retirement, she worked as a phlebotomy technician, owning and operating her own business while serving countless medical professionals in our area.

She was also a devoted member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Old Forge. Passing away peacefully Wednesday morning, she will forever be missed by her loved ones.

She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Siblings, Lovie Williams and Arthur Wirhanowsky, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 512 Summer St., Old Forge, to be conducted by church rector, the Rev. Peter Henry. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery, Old Forge.

Those attending Helen's funeral are asked to go directly to church.

Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge. Visit the funeral home website for directions or to leave an online condolence.
