Irene D. Artfitch, 96, of North Scranton, died at her home on Thursday afternoon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto A. Artfitch, who died in 1989.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Andrego and the stepdaughter of the late John Soma. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Otto Artfitch and his wife, Marianne, Cumberland, Md.; daughter, Shirley Martarano and her husband, Angelo, Clarks Summit; four grandchildren, Edward, Deidre, Danielle and David; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Aversano and Elizabeth Ruddy; and several nieces and nephews.
Irene always smiled. She loved life and everybody. Her Trinity Church family was an unbelievable support to her. She loved her flowers and sitting on her swing and sunporch. Her children and grandchildren were her world.
Irene was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Steve Ruddy, and sisters, Helen Levandoski, Margaret Secoolish and Ann Dieza.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, 205 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411, by the Rev. George G. Mathews Jr., pastor. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Dickson City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
