Jacob Frederic (Fred) Muth Sr., of Taylor, passed away Saturday at home, just over three months from the death of his loving wife of 59 years. His wife was the former Julie Ann (Graziano) Muth.
Born in Old Forge on March 9, 1943, and son of the late Jacob Frederic Muth and Margaret (Chopyak) String, Fred attended Old Forge schools before working for Roberts Sporting Goods and Chamberlain Manufacturing (General Dynamics) before retirement.
Fred loved to garden and work in his yard, take his annual vacation to Virginia Beach with his beloved Julie, and spend time with his adored grandsons.
A kind-hearted and selfless man, he always put others before himself and was certainly always there when needed.
He is survived by his son, James Muth and wife, Tracy, of Taylor; his grandsons, Jimmy and Joshua Muth; his sisters, Elizabeth "Dutchie" LaRose, of Greenfield Twp.; and Marie Christian, of Old Forge; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Jacob Frederic Muth, on March 12, 2006; and his aunt, whom he considered a mother, Elizabeth "Pippy" Chopyak and her husband, George.
