James J. Lydon, 79, of Benton Twp., died Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, after a battle with cancer. His wife is the former Susan Wilford.
Born in Scranton on April 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Jack and Wilma Morgan Lydon. Jim served his country in the United States Navy, last stationed in NAS, Patuxent River, Md. He was a truck and coach bus driver for more than 45 years, working for Jones Motor, then as an owner/operator, and lastly for Nichols' Bus. Jim was a member of the American Legion for 50 years. He also belonged to the Tauras Club in Scranton. He was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Surviving are his two sons, Jim and his wife, Tammy, Clarks Summit; and Gary and his wife, Claudia, Old Greenwich, Conn.; his daughter, Debbie Lydon-Taylor and her husband, Bob, Arizona; two stepdaughters, Robyn and Ginger Nichols; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service with military honors will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes Inc., 33 Reynolds St., Factoryville, with Pastor Paul Fields officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Abington Hills Cemetery, Clarks Summit. Donations in Jim's memory can be made to the American Legion 0953, Nicholson; or the Tauras Club in Scranton.
