James Trombetta Obituary

James Albert "Jimmy" Trombetta, 95, of Paradise Valley, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital – Monroe in Bartonsville. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Kertzman) Trombetta, with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 28, 2021.

Born in South Scranton, Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Dominick and Anna (Tutino) Trombetta. A proud Veteran, Jimmy served two years in the United States Navy with the SEABEES in Okinawa, Japan, during WWII. He also served two years in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Bliss.

Jimmy was a lab technician for 25 years at the National Drug Company, Merrill National Labs and Connaught Laboratories, now known as Sanofi-Pasteur in Swiftwater.

He was a bartender and host for more than 55 years, greeting and smiling with people at most of the Pocono Mountain Resorts including Shawnee Inn, Skytop Lodge, the Buck Hill Inn, Pocono Manor Inn, Sun & Ski, Johnnies Restaurant, the Wine Press Inn and Stroudsmoor Country Inn. Jimmy was known for his classy outfits with matching tie, handkerchief and cummerbund. Since 1962, he was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paradise Valley, formerly St. Mary of the Mount, Mount Pocono. Jimmy was a 4th Degree Knight in the Catholic Order of the Knights of Columbus, receiving the organization's highest and most prestigious degree. Jimmy was a left handed bowler and golfer. He loved the sport of boxing and loved to show off his dance moves. He and his wife could really "cut a rug."

In the warmer months, you could see Jimmy cutting his lawn in his signature white dress shirt, black dress pants and wide-brimmed straw hat.

Jimmy will be deeply but fondly missed by his family and friends in the Pocono and Scranton areas.

In addition to his wife Betty, Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie DePue (Sal); son, James Trombetta and his wife, Judy; son, Michael Trombetta and his wife, Valerie; daughter, Maureen Lotz and her husband, James; grandchildren, Aaron DePue, Trevor Lotz, Brianna Lotz and Joshua Trombetta; and great-grandson, Lucas DePue. Also surviving, brothers, Vito Trombetta, Scranton and John Trombetta and his wife, Micheline, Pittston; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jimmy was also predeceased by his two brothers, Paul and Angelo.

Services are private. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Tannersville with Msgr. John Bergamo and Msgr. Arthur Kashenbachcon celebrating.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Italian-American Cemetery in the Minooka section, Scranton. Bolock Funeral Home, Cresco, is handling arrangements. A public memorial and celebration of Jimmy's life will be announced at a later date.
