Janice Mae Miller Browning

Janice Mae Miller Browning, BSRN, CPN, of Peckville and age 73, went with God July 24, 2017, at Creekside Health and Rehab Center in Carbondale.

She and her husband, Wilson Browning, who survives her, were married for 52 wonderful years. She was born in Peckville and was the daughter of the late Mae (Berg­hauser) and Frank Miller.

Janice was a member of the former Peckville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She subsequently attended the Blakely Baptist church until the onset of her illness.

She was a graduate of Blakely High School, also graduating from Our Lady of Victory Hospital as a child care technician. While employed at Mercy Hospital in Scranton for 29 years in the pediatric department, she continued her education, graduating from Keystone College with an associate degree in nursing. She then graduated from Wilkes University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse and a certified pediatric nurse.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 10 years as an R.N. at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, in the Alzheimer's unit.

She is also survived by two daughters. Lisa Krapf and husband, the Rev. Richard, and their sons, David and Aaron, all of Canandaigua, N.Y.; and Jennifer Tomaino and husband, Brendan, and their son, Christian, all of Jessup. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Arlene Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Miller; and a sister, Anita Miller Ormsby.

We as a family offer a sincere thank you to "Jan's" attending medical staff at Creekside Center for their attentive, comforting and compassionate care throughout her time there.

We also offer a special thanks to her many friends and colleagues who held special places in her heart and mind.

The funeral will be Thursday with services at 10 a.m. in the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. Interment in Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
