Jerome William Lynott died peacefully at the age of 91 (or 91½ as he said) on Sept. 20 in hospice care.
A lifelong resident of Scranton, he lived a full life as a loving and devoted husband, patient and supportive father and a proud grandfather.
He was baptized in the Cathedral of St. Peter, Scranton, on Jan. 12, 1930 and will be buried from the same church on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.
He was a United States Army veteran, attaining the rank of sergeant during the Korean War and worked in the construction industry as an estimator, retiring from Sordoni Construction. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, attended the University of Scranton and Villanova University.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Hortense Scanlan Lynott; a son, Atty. Daniel Lynott, of Tampa, Fla.; and brothers, John and Joseph Lynott; and sister, Hortense Mundy.
He and his wife, Romaine Spindler Lynott, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Feb. 16. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Atty. Michael Lynott and wife, Laura, Miami, Fla.; Jerome Lynott and wife, Jean, Nicholson Twp.; Mary Gan and husband, Dr. Robert, Honesdale; Kathryn Brubaker and husband, David, Sinking Springs; Atty. Karl Lynott and wife, Sarellen, Scranton; and Atty. Kurt Lynott and wife, Casie, Olyphant; grandchildren, Dr. Stephen, Alicia and Anastasia Gan, Tara and Kathleen Lynott; Allison and husband, Matthew Baker; and Isabelle Lynott, Harris and Hunter Lynott, Sarah Lynott, U.S. Army Lt. Michael, Julie, James, Daniel and Mary Grace Brubaker, and Maddy Lynott.
Funeral arrangements are by August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202-204 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA 18505. Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 24, at 9:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of St. Peter, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
Interment will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus & Mary Cemetery, Scranton.
