John B. Mikulak, 80, of Carbondale, died Thursday at the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Cherith Keisling.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Joseph and Betty Hunt Mikulak, he was a member of the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale. He was a 1960 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He attended the University of Scranton and received his associate degree from Lackawanna College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War era. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at RCA/Thomson Consumer Electronics, Dunmore; he had previously been employed at the Scranton Talk. He enjoyed walking around Lake Scranton and fishing and camping. He loved listening to music, especially doo-wop, and he was always listening to his radio. John was a simple man who was kind and caring; he never forgot to say "I love you" to his family.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Serenity Care Personal Care and the VA Hospital for the compassionate care given to John.
Surviving are four children, Roshelle Coleman and husband, Kevin, Fleetville; Audrey Conflitti and husband, Michael, Moosic; Joseph Mikulak and wife, Diana, Gouldsboro; Jonathan Mikulak, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Michael John, Paige, Noah and Isabella; two sisters, Ann Morris and husband, Thomas, Waymart; and Catherine Mussari, Waymart; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday with services at 11 a.m. in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, to be celebrated by Pastor Deborah Loessy. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial donations may be made to the Berean Baptist Church, 33 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, PA 18407.
