John J. Witzgall, 75, of Archbald died Wednesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife was the former Linda Taylor and they had been married for 50 years.
Born in Mineola, N.Y., son of the late John and Madeline Hippert Witzgall.
He was a member of Christ the King Parish, Archbald. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and prior to retirement worked for SCI Waymart for 20 years. He enjoyed playing online poker and trips to the casino. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed traveling to attend NFL football games around the country. He was an animal lover, who especially loved his Jack Russel, Toby, who preceded him in death by three weeks.
Also surviving are two sons, Steven Witzgall and wife, Karen, McGraw, N.Y. and Douglas Witzgall, Scranton; and a granddaughter, Alice.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Parish at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Inurnment to follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors.
Friends may call Tuesday from 8:45 until 9:45 a.m. at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville.
