Joseph Cavagnaro Obituary
Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Frank "Ziggy" and Jennie Skovira Cavagnaro. He was a graduate of Jessup High School and immediately went to Europe to serve his country in the Army. Joseph was employed by Oklahoma Oil Co. before his retirement. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville, Michael Steiner Post 411 American Legion, Jessup VFW Post 5544 and Jessup Hose Company 1.
Surviving are a son, Joseph J. Cavagnaro and wife, Madonna, Peckville; two daughters, Susan Checefsky and husband, Walter, Archbald; and Ellen March and husband, Stanley, Eynon; grandchildren, Joseph P. Cavagnaro and wife, Lindsay, Archbald; Lynn Cole and husband, James, Clifford; Walter A. Checefsky, Archbald; John March and wife, Lorren, Trappe, Pa.; and Eric March, Eynon; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Andrew and Matthew; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karen Checefsky; two sisters and a brother, Mary Alunni, Frank "Sglick" Cavagnaro and Ann Wasilchak.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Jessup.
Viewing hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup.

Another fine man called home. Joe was always a smiling, joking, good-natured presence, loved and respected in all his roles. My sincere condolences to the family. Rest in peace.
