Joseph Muchisky

Joseph Muchisky, 81, of Blakely, died Friday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an illness. His wife of 56 years is the former Pauline Vinskus.

Born in Jessup, son of the late Wasyl Alex and Dora Bendersky Muchisky, he was a graduate of Jessup High School and a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant. He was employed for many years in facility engineers at Tobyhanna Army Depot and was well-known as a volunteer with Operation Santa Claus. Joe was a proud founder of Muchisky and Sons Garage Doors in Blakely, which later became Northeast Door Sales.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and spending time around his home.

Also surviving are four sons, Joseph and wife, Rosemary; Paul and wife, Maria; Mark and wife, Wendy; and David; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Evan, Eric, Mia, Nicholas, Tyler and Josephine; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie Harrington.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, 402 Boulevard Ave., Dickson City, with Divine Liturgy at 10 in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant, to be celebrated by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville.
