Joseph Oakley, 68, of Childs, died at home on Thursday. His wife of 44 years is Becky Brister Oakley.
Born in Childs, son of the late Rexford and Helen Fife Oakley, his two granddaughters were the love of his life. They brought him so much joy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and visiting casinos locally and in Las Vegas. Before retirement, he worked as a psychiatric aide at Clarks Summit State Hospital.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Shannon Oakley and husband, Rich Carter, Conshohocken; and Beth Oakley, Norristown; sons, Joshua Oakley and wife, Jeanette, Childs; and Keith Oakley and wife, Amanda, Greenfield Twp.; grandchildren, Vienna and Colette Oakley; brothers, Alan, Donald and Thomas Oakley; sisters, Gail Cosklo, Elizabeth Dubas, Ellen Morcom, Margie Skinner and Ruth Schuman; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, James, Rexford, Leon, Lawrence and Gerald Oakley and an infant brother; and sisters, Catherine Oakley, Eileen Yasnovitch, Louis Messick, Jane Harrison and Sharon Brady.
The family will receive family and friends for a Celebration of Life on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. in Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
