Joseph Yeselavage Obituary

Joseph "Yuzo" Yeselavage Sr., 74, of Jessup, died Sunday in the emergency room at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, Johnson City, N.Y., after being stricken ill at Ely Park Golf Course. He married the former Anastasia Malinosky on Oct. 4, 1958. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 1997.

Born and educated in Eynon, son of the late Konstanty and Mary Barkowski Yeselavage, he entered the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his marriage to Anastasia, he began his employment at the Billig Shoe Co., Peckville, and he later worked as a butcher for 35 years at Tommy's Market, Eynon. Before his retirement, he was employed as a custodian in the Clarks Summit State Hospital. A resident of Jessup for the past 49 years, he was a man of strong faith and was a daily communicant. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Jermyn Golf League.

He was a devoted father, grandfather and neighbor whose passions were gardening, golf, the St. Louis and Arizona Cardinals and playing the lottery.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Beth Turner and son-in-law, Jeff, Yuma, Ariz.; a son, Joseph Yeselavage, and daughter-in-law, Lee Ann, Archbald; two granddaughters, Kelsey and Caitlyn Turner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Adam, Julius, Thomas, Leo and Paul Yeselavage; and three sisters, Ida Kosik, Stella Vladika and Frances Banack.

The funeral with military honors will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass at 10 in St. Michael's Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment, parish cemetery, Jessup.

Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m.

Sad to read of your loss. I remember going to Tommy's Market with my father (Edward Jasulevicz) and picking up lunch meat and meats. He was always so friendly.
