Josephine Karolewicz Obituary

Josephine "Josie" Karolewicz, 87, of Throop, died Saturday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an illness. She was the widow of Joseph C. Karolewicz, who died in 2013. They had been married for 56 years.

Born in Jessup, daughter of the late George A. and Victoria Borosky Roman, she was educated in Jessup High School, and before her retirement, was employed in the local garment industry. She was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church in Throop and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Mothers Club. She was devoted, loving, thoughtful, caring and a quietly strong homemaker and mother.

Josie was an angel on earth. She was also an avid sewer, enjoyed concerts, monster jams, traveling with her husband, polka weekends with her friends, her front porch swing and back porch rocker, and going out for her favorite meal, breakfast.

She is survived by one son, David Karolewicz and fiancée, Jennifer O'Rourke and her son, Nathan of Throop; one daughter, Diane Karolewicz of Throop; one niece; and two nephews.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Karolewicz; one brother, Albert Malinosky; and one sister, Dolores Pascavage.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, 402 Boulevard Ave., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, Rebecca Street, Throop, to be celebrated by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, pastor.

Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Blessed Sacrament Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 6:45 p.m.
