Josephine Rizzuto Obituary

Josephine Rizzuto (Diana), 78, of Culpeper, Va., died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Palermo, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Puglisi Diana. She immigrated to America in 1947 and became a resident of Scranton. She married her husband in 1958, and moved to New York. She was a loving mother who always put her children ahead of herself.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and really loved life. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

Josephine is survived by her children, Louann Freeman and husband, Jim; Alfonso Rizzuto Jr.; and Mario Rizzuto and wife, Ellen; two brothers, Carmen Diana and Anthony Diana; and her sister, Marie Strasburger; 12 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husand, Alfonso Rizzuto Sr.; her son, Angelo Rizzuto; and her brothers, Salvatore and Calogero Diana.

A Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Scranton Street, Scranton, Pa. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church.

Friends and family may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Avenue, Scranton, Pa. For online condolences, please visit www.duffyandsnowdon.com.
