Joshua Snyder Obituary

Navy Corpsman Joshua Thomas Snyder, 22, of Dunmore, passed into eternal life on Sunday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.

Born on November 26, 1992, he was the much loved son of Thomas and Judy Shoener Snyder, Dunmore. Josh was a 2011 graduate of Dunmore High School, where he was a member of the marching and concert bands. Josh was enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program for the United States Navy throughout his senior year of high school. Josh graduated from Navy bootcamp in September of 2011. After graduation from bootcamp, Josh went to the Joint Base in San Antonio, Texas, at Fort Sam Houston, where he attended Corpsman school for the Navy. Upon completion of Corpsman school, Josh was assigned to Walter Reed National Medical Center, where he served in several clinics and departments throughout the hospital.

Josh loved life, his family, and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Anyone Josh met became an instant friend, as Josh had such a big heart. He had friends in both Northeast Pa. as well as friends he made in his time in bootcamp, San Antonio and Bethesda. Josh attended both Grace Bible Church, Dunmore and Heritage Baptist Church, Clarks Summit. In his free time he enjoyed riding and working on his motorcycle, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, and most importantly spending time with his family, friends and dogs, Jethro and Charley.

Josh will be dearly missed by his parents, Thomas and Judy Snyder; sister, Elizabeth Snyder; maternal grandmother, Annette Snyder; aunts and uncles, Jack Snyder, David Snyder; Anne Coviello and husband, Joe; Ed Shoener and wife, Ruth; Carol Shoener and Nancy Shoener; as well as his cousins and other extended family members.

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Snyder; maternal grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Hensley Shoener; and his uncle, Jerry Snyder.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 415 Venard Road, Clarks Summit, 18411. Calling hours will be on Saturday, 9 a.m. until time of services at Heritage Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the USO.
