June Byrne Obituary

June A. Byrne, 90, of Scranton, died Thursday at home with family at her side. Her husband, William L. Byrne, died April 20, 2005. Her first husband, Dr. John F. Kelly, died July 10, 1965.

Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James J. and Mae G. Kennedy O'Connor. She was a graduate of Blakely High School in 1937, attended Cornell University and was a 1942 graduate of Marywood College. Following college, she was employed at International Salt Co.

She also worked in both her father's and husband's medical practices. She was a member of the Sant' Andrea Society, Lackawanna River Corridor Association, the Moosic Lakes Club, Irish Cultural Society and was a past president of the Long Island chapter of the Marywood College Alumnae. She was a member of St. Paul/St. Clare's Parish.

Surviving are five sons, John F. Kelly, Scranton; Dr. James J. Kelly, Dillon, S.C.; William L. Byrne of Scranton; and John J. Byrne, Esq.; and Paul G. Byrne, both of Dunmore, four daughters, Patricia Kelly of New York City; Mary Kelly, San Rafael, Calif; Kathleen Kelly O'Hara of Scranton and Loretta Byrne Moran of Haymarket, Va; 22 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James J. O'Connor Jr.

The family would like to thank her caregivers from Lees Nurses Registry and Traditional Home Health and Hospice.

The funeral will be Monday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Basilica, St. Ann's Street, Scranton, PA 18504.
