June Sanford Obituary

June M. Sanford, 83, of Clarks Summit died Monday at the Mountain View Care Center in Scranton, where she was a guest. She was the widow of Robert H. Sanford, who died in 2003.

Born June 24, 1934, in Scranton, daughter of the late Matthew C. and Margaret Kanyock Leskawa, June was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, Drew University in Madison, N.J., and Paterson State Teachers College. She had additional studies at Pugent Sound University in Washington state.

June was employed for 23 years as a teacher in New Jersey, teaching English as a Second Language, and as a piano instructor. She was a former member of the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church in Scranton, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarks Summit.

Surviving are her nieces, Deborah Zaleski and Janet Leskawa; and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald Leskawa and Richard Leskawa.

Memorial services will be conducted privately at the convenience of friends and family. Interment will be conducted at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411; or the Little Red Dog House, 320 Northern Blvd., South Abington Twp,. PA 18411.
