Kenneth Clarke Richards, 84, passed away on Dec. 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He lived in Moosic, the son of the late Daniel W. and Bernice Richards. He was a graduate of Moosic High School and The Pennsylvania State University. He earned a Master's Degree from the University of Scranton. He was a mathematics teacher, promoted to Department Head and Federal Coordinator at Riverside High School. Kenneth moved onto the family business, DW Richards Sons Inc., where he was the president until he retired in 2008.
Kenneth was the devoted husband of Evelyn Ann Richards, who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2018. He was the father of six children, Louise and husband Michael Pate; Ann and husband Michael Millan; Sue Richards and Robert; Daniel Richards; Lisa and husband John Breckinridge; Carole Richards; and Cliff Evans. He had 13 grandchildren, Christine, Mark and wife Li, Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Jessie, Emily, Jacob, Jackson, Megan, Cailley with husband Brad, Hannah, Adam; two great-grandchildren, Lyra and Catherine.
He's survived by siblings, Daniel Richards and wife Helen; Ruth Williams, James Richards; and brother-in-law, Robert Aldrich. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Richards.
Kenneth was a loving father and grandfather who provided generously for his family. He was an avid golfer, a Penn State and New York Yankee fan. He loved spending time at his lake house, fishing and enjoying nature.
He loved the ocean and spent his summer vacations with his wife and children in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. He was an Eagle Scout and had fun camping with his family. Kenneth hosted yearly fishing contests and brought humor to all family celebrations.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Griswold Home Care, Home Instead, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
