Lillian Bischak, 91, of Waymart, died Wednesday at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She was the widow of Michael (Breezy Sr.) Bischak, who died in September 1991.
Born in Simpson, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kloptosky Valinski, she was a member of St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Church, Simpson, was a dedicated parishioner, and a very active volunteer in many events, fundraisers and picnics.
She was educated in Fell Twp. schools, and was employed with housekeeping at Fell Elementary School and Carbondale Area High Schools before retirement.
Lillian enjoyed baking, quilting and was an extremely avid bingo player. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are son, Michael (Breezy Jr.) Bischak and wife, Treena, Simpson; granddaughter, Katherine Bischak, Simpson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Valinski and John Valinski; and a sister, Blanche Prawdzik.
The family would like to thank Drs. Thomas Craparo and Matthew Haley for their great care, Traditional Hospice, Dunmore and also, many great thanks to the entire staff and facility of Wayne Woodlands Manor for their excellent care and love for Lillian through the many years she was a resident there, they were truly like family.
The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with services at 9:30 a.m. in St. Basil's Church, 33 Midland St., Simpson, with services by the Very Rev. Mitered Archpriest David J. Hritcko. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Parastas service will be at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Wayne Woodlands Manor, 37 Woodlands Drive, Waymart, PA 18472; or St. Basil's R.O. Church, 33 Midland St., Simpson, PA 18407.
